DNV has been active in developing standards, specifications and guidelines for wind turbine structures and components since 2001. The standards integrate decades of experience from the offshore industry with DNV’s in-depth wind turbine knowledge gained from the type certification of large megawatt turbines.

  Use of Remote Sensing for Wind Energy Assessments:
  • Using remote sensing data in energy assessments
  • Planning and implementing remote sensing measurements.
    
• Guidelines for Design of Wind Turbines (Risø DTU/DNV):
  • Guidelines for design of different types of wind turbines.

Publications in the pipeline:

• Recommended practices are under development in areas such as design of floating turbine structures.

In addition, DNV takes a leading role in developing and revising international standards through active involvement on a number of International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) committees and European and national standards bodies.
