“There is a need for common international methods for CO2 storage site selection, monitoring, verification and risk assessment” – IEA Technology Roadmap for CCS (2009)
Capital value process for CO2 storage projects
The project stages below have been developed to provide a framework for the work processes described in the guidelines for geological storage of CO2:

The CO2QUALSTORE guideline
This guideline defines a structured approach for CO2 storage site selection, provides a tool for managing CCS project development in a responsible way and facilitates defining criteria and procedures for issuing permits.
The CO2WELLS guideline
This guideline describes a risk management framework for existing wells at potential CO2 storage sites, both onshore and offshore. The scope includes the risk assessment of active and abandoned wells during the Screen stage and the qualification of existing wells for abandonment, conversion or continued use during the Assess & Select stage. The guideline is consistent with the ISO31000 standard for risk management and with current and emerging regulations for CO2 geological storage in the US, Canada, Europe and Australia.
