New ideas are generated every day by our worldwide staff – inspired by close interaction with key customers and partners. Sometimes this is an extension or combination of current knowledge and methodologies; at other times we come up with totally new knowledge or applications. In both cases, we want to work closely with the industry to develop ideas further.

Our ultimate goal is for the proposals presented in 'The power of joint innovation' to materialise in new codes and services in 2012, 2013 and 2014, depending on the complexity of the issues and projects.

The ideas and proposals cover a wide range of issues – new methods to assess ageing offshore structures, the development of new container ship designs, Arctic field logistics, advanced well management and the step-change improvement of offshore safety after Deepwater Horizon – and much more.
