Increasing operational capabilities for a large shipping company

DNV was approached by a major shipping company owning and operating a large and diverse fleet spanning several shipping segments. The shipping company was aiming to increase operating capabilities and to become a world class operator. In order to accomplish these goals the first step was to assess the current ship management organisation and identify opportunities for improvement.

Statoil towards world-class operation and maintenance

Statoil hired DNV in 2005 to benchmark the operation and maintenance of its Norwegian offshore installations. The analysis revealed a number of critical issues: reduced production availability, a need for better prioritisation of safety- and production-critical failures, inefficient operation and maintenance management practices across 19 operating assets, and poor utilisation of availability and maintenance opportunities.
